• Tsubaki oil helps protect the skin from dryness

• Leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft after cleansing

THE STORY

Sake kasu is created when fermented moromi, the mash used in sake brewing, is pressed and separated into sake (liquid) and sake lees (solid).

The pressed sake lees contain starch, protein, and fiber, as well as peptides and amino acids formed when proteins break down during fermentation.

They also contain vitamins and yeast involved in fermentation.

Sake kasu has long been used in traditional Japanese skincare and is well known as a beauty ingredient as well as an everyday cleansing soap.

The sake kasu used in this soap is sourced from a Japanese sake brewery here in New Zealand.

Tsubaki oil (Japanese camellia oil) is also added to help keep the skin feeling soft and moisturised after washing.

THE PROCESS

The sake kasu is carefully prepared to remove alcohol before being added to the soap, allowing the bar to remain gentle on the skin.

This soap is made using the cold process method, which also helps preserve the naturally sweet aroma of sake kasu.

THE SCENT

The fresh sweetness of orange blends with the warm depth of cedarwood, gently complementing the natural aroma of sake kasu.

The scent carries both a soft sweetness and a comforting woody warmth.

THE SKIN FEEL

The natural sugars in sake kasu help create a smooth and creamy lather.

After washing, the skin feels soft and refreshed.

This bar is suitable for dry to normal skin and is comfortable for daily use.

Because the qualities of sake kasu tend to be appreciated with continued use, this soap fits naturally into a daily skincare routine.
